I just graduated from boot camp on June 3rd. I was hoping to share a little info with the mom's here. The mail that you send them the first week won't be read until their RDC's allow them to receive it. Most likely close to the end of week 1. They also aren't allowed to send out mail except for Sunday's. That doesn't start until the weekend of week one which should be the 23rd of this month. Once they are allowed to receive mail they can get it and read it EVERYDAY! So i encourage you to write them as often as possible. It's pretty stressful in Boot Camp and when recruits get those letters it's such a great moment. So when you don't get as much mail as hoped, just remember that they can only do but so much. Keep writing everyday and let them know you support them and love them and are proud of them for the sacrifices they are making.

No problem. If you have any other questions just let me know and I will answer them to the best of my ability.

Well yes and no. It's more of a habit for them to cus when they speak. They don't purposely cus you out and call you names. It's more like ... A recruit does something they think is stupid like put their shorts on backwards [yes i did that once lol] their response would be something like this, "what the f*** recruit! Go in the d*** head [bathroom] and un f*** yourself!".

So, getting a letter every day from Mom isn't too much?  Even if SR is married?
Comment by luseika on October 13, 2011 at 10:10pm
No its actually a good thing. Lots of the guys were married and still bragged about getting mail from "mommy" haha. Any type of mail from all friends and family is motivation for the recruits. Makes everyone feel like they aren't being forgotten while they're gone.

Thank you so much for the tips and for serving our great country. You are a very courageous and honorable person! I will continue to send my daughter lots of cards and fun letters. I think some of her friends will write, but I fear they will only send one letter and then stop. Did that happen a lot?

Can anyone tell me what the captains cup is?

@ Moskate: Thank you so much. Also, It did happen a lot. most of my friends sent me one maybe two letters and that was all. It kind of upset me a little bit, but not so much because my family wrote me a lot. I got cards and drawings and colorful things from my fiance and my mom and brothers.

@ LadyHawk: lol yes it was a day i will never forget along with a few other really dumb things i did that i payed for with push-ups.

@ Mim6640: Captains cup is like the Olympic games for recruits boot camp style.
