My son graduates from Power School soon, fingers crossed. So many of the Prototype locations are being shut down for maintenance, he doesn't know where he will be stationed or even when. He told me he could be stationed anywhere as a janitor or other. That being said; I am having dreams that he is loaned out to the army and sent to Iran.

I was good with him joining the Navy because if he left the states he would be on a boat. I have had several family members that served in WWII, Vietnam, 1st Gulf war, and 2nd Gulf war. I understand the sacrifice and the hard work both before, during and after. I feel very selfish because of my worry. My nephew is currently in boot camp with the Army and all his friends are being sent overseas. I am struggling with my feeling and emotions right now.

I never hear from my son; I know he is busy studying and such but I didn't even get a text for Mother's Day. I am spending a lot of money I don't have to see his power school graduation and I am not even sure he will want to see me. I really am trying to not be that mom but I have 7 more years of nothing? I thought boot camp was bad; no contact, not knowing what was going on. It really isn't getting any easier because he is in contact with his cousin-in-law and plays games online on the weekends so this is his choice. I really don't want anyone to read this but feel it is important to let others know - you are not alone.  This is why we must remain -  semper fortis.

Side note he has  requested no letters be sent to him. I am thinking about sending 3 a day for a week just to be annoying. He has a birthday coming up, maybe I will send something just to be that mom. <evil laughter>

All is good just need to vent. Semper Fortis and Semper Gumby Mommas. You are not alone. We are in this together.

Hi kbpoohbear,

I am not there yet, waiting for dates to start still, but the no contact is my fear and sadly I am sure my future.  At 10 my "child" went on a 3 week trip over seas with other students and teachers.  He did not call once. The phone we sent him with was used by others whose phone cards did not work but not my kid.

Hang in there.

He'll be going to prototype - most likely still in GC.  There could be a delay (there usually is) but it will happen.  Hang in there.....

Dear Kbpoohbear,

All I can say is that must be so hard. My son has only been gone since last Thursday, so he's on day 5 and I miss him so much and can't wait to hear.

I am thinking it might be good to know he is communicating with cousins in the games. My son is a gamer too and they have really built a community there. I loved hearing his voice from the other room while he was chatting away while they play. I think the transition is hard, but I guess it's the time in their lives when friends, peers, siblings and cousins come first. They take parents a little for granted, they know we're here loving them, no need to check in about that.

I think I'll change my username, since there's another Michelle. Call me FluffySitter (that's his cat).

Wishing you peace and calm.

FluffySitter
