My son left Friday for basic training and I received my "I am here!" phone call a few hours later. I wanted to ask him a million questions, but he said he needed to go and even though I understood, I felt like I was letting him go all over again. I have been crying on and off since I left MEPS on Friday. Does this get easier??? I am sure I will feel better when I receive his first letter and again when I get to hear his voice again when he calls in 3 or so weeks, as he told me over the phone he would. But I cannot stop thinking...I wonder what he is doing now? Is he eating..sleeping. Is he being yelled out? Is he scared? I know...I am being a mom, but I want to know what everyone else went through and does anyone have any tips to help me cope a little better? Did I say I really miss him????
lemonelephant, the recruiter said he was in division 222. I am still waiting on the form letter before sending any letters. How long does this take???
sorry lemonelephant...I see you had already answered my question. Thanks again!!!!
Your SR is most likely in the 06/07/2013 TG, which would mean that there are at least 12 divisions in that TG. I see that you've joined that group, but you can't make plans until you get that form letter to confirm it. You are very welcome.
Thank you "Debbie's husband" You made me feel a whole lot better...you really did. My dad is a retired Navy (WWII) vet as well and my son is the first of his children and grandchildren to follow in his footsteps and he could not be prouder. My son too just skimmed by high school with his charm and smile and I am hoping that he will buckle down and realize that this is no joke.
Yes, there is a dad in the picture and I will give him your information about joining Navy Dad's.
I am still anticipating his form letter, however the Chief from the recruiting office gave me his address. I read on here not to send mail until the form letter comes. I have LOTS of mail to send and cannot wait to receive mail from him as well. I cannot wait until his PIR, I am sure I will not see the young kid that left here 11 days ago, a fine young man. Sad he can only get 3 or 4 tickets. We have are a family of 6! I am going to look into the Navy Lodge!
I am so happy that you took the time to ease this mom's mind. I guess we all go through this stage as parents when we have to let go.
Debbie's Hubby, It's OK for you to have your own profile on here. We accept all loved ones, not just moms. I know you know about http://www.navydads.com/; there is also Dads on Moms.....com on this site.
Ronnies mom, Division 222 is in the 06/14/2013 TG, so you can leave PIR 06/07/2013 TG 30 - 11 Divisions (213-220, 812, 813 and 930) and join PIR 06/14/2013 TG 31 (clickable link), to connect with others with loved ones training with your SR. Know that Divisions 221 and 222 are brother divisions and train together and will have Battle Stations-21 together, so look for others with loved ones in either division. There will later be a discussion within that group for the two divisions.
Thanks again Debbie's hubby and also thanks again to you lemonelephant...you both are wonderful!!!!
