Missing my Daughter, my best friend.

All day I keep thinking to myself or saying out loud to my husband " I wonder what Victoria's doing right now" "I wonder if she already ate yet"." I wonder if she likes the food" At 8pm I know she is going to bed because of the two hour time difference.

I had already written her three letters when I got her address and sent those off today.

Even six months ago I couldn't say my daughter would live away from me. She hadn't made the decision to join the military and even when she did I panicked "but you might be to far away from me" but knew it would be a good opportunity for her.

We do everything together. I was just telling my friend Katie yesterday it is so weird to be able to have a dual relationship within a relationship. Tori knows when I am "the mom" and just do what I say, no arguments, and other times we are like the only two people like ourselves in this world. Nobody else is as weird and goofy as me, nobody else gets my sense of humor and wit like her. Nobody else can make just as much fun of ourselves as we can laughing at the oddities of others

On Monday it will be only 8 more weeks. I just hope she has made a ton of new good friends there and only feels a fraction of the heart ache I feel.

hi tori's mom! thank you for sharing your thoughts. i'm ali's mom. ali & i have a "dual" relationship also... the big difference from reading your story comparwd to ours is that i always knew she would be off on her own as soon as she found just where that place would be. it would be neat to find out that they're making friends with each other right now... and talking about how crazy fun their mom's are : )

take good care, shari t. (ali's mom)

Hi Alismz! I really hope they are making friends with eachother. I am so excited for all the adventure that Victoria wil get to experience and that is the main thing that makes missing her all worth it.I read your profile and Ali sounds very brave, motivated and adventurous. It's exciting to hear about what this experience is like for them once we get to talk to them. Thanks for your comments.

Hi MOMSLICE, I had a day or two of hard times but am doing much better now. Kind of going through the Stages of grief associated with a big change. I am so proud of our kids, tommorrow will be one week Victoria has been there. I bet it is a lot harder for the kids missing their parents and everything that is familiar to them.I also am sure that they are building some bonds and friendship with other kids who feel like them. And realisticly that's how I think about it. I can't wait to see what kid of life and experiences she has during her navy career. Thank you for commenting. :)
