My son left January 18 for BC, what an emotional day that was and also the days working up to that day, and OMG!!! The days since..just sit here writing letters to him and tear up just thinking about him, his voice, laugh and everything about him.  What a wonderful boy he is and next time I see him he will be a young man.  I know he made the right decision to join the Navy and I am very proud of him....just feel an emptiness now.  Received the call from him that he made it there (GL) at 12:01 that night (I don't think the call was even a minute long).  Got the "kid in the box and the form letter" on the Monday after he left.  Then finally received a letter from him on February 2, did not receive another on till February 16....but I know he has been writing letters to others grandmother, friends etc.  I do realize I have to share him...it is just very hard.  I LOVE MY SON SO MUCH!!!!!  Have not received a phone call from him at all since he got to (GL) on January 18.  Just sitting here wondering why I have not.  Sent him with an 800 minute calling card.  Even included my phone number in a couple of letters to him (hint-hint). His first letter he sounded a little discouraged, because of the yelling and all.  Said he knew, that was the RDL's job and they want them to be top notch sailors and once the division comes together they will sail right through.  He was very homesick.  Second letter was much more up beat, misses his dad, sister, I , cats & dog...LOL!!!!  Even wanted to know if we could bring the cats and dog with us to PIR--JUST KIDDING of course.  Wrote back and told him pictures will have to do for now.  I know he must be extremely busy cuz we were initially told he would be graduating on March 18, then we get the letter that it would be March 11 instead....Can't believe the time is almost here.  I'm sooooo looking forward to that date.....  Really, would love to hear his voice....every time the phone rings I think is this my son.  I know he is in excellent hands and being fed well......You are constantly on my mind.  LOVE YOU SON!!!!!

So glad you got that phone call.  Aren't they the greatest... FYI, keep those letters in the mail to him. I asked my son if he ever got tired of me writing him so much and he said "no way".. They thrive off those letters.  It really keeps them going.  And who better than a MOM to send the most loving words.  One good thing to look forward to, is that it will probably nice weather when you go see him graduate.  My son graduated Feb. 11th and it was pretty cold and lots of snow everywhere... But I was gonna make that graduation even if I had to put on my snow shoes and walk there. lol... Keep your chip up and say a prayer for you Sailor every night.  I found that it helped me through it all.  GOD BLESS and GO NAVY!!
