My son left on May 22nd 2012 and it was the most emotional expeirence of my life. I compared the feeling to getting pregnant at 17 and deciding to keep him and give us the best life possible. We basically grew up together and he has been my life and all my focus. I am lost now, I am sure this feeling will go away as the weeks pass. I am such a proud mom but a scared one also. The hardeest part is that I missed his first call. For some reason my phone never even rang! I was horrified when my voicemail indication sound went off. I looked and it was an Illionis phone number. It was about 10:30 at night here in Washington State and I started crying which soon turned to being hysterical and feeling robbed. From 10:30 to 3am I called the number back repeatedly knowing he and no one would answer. I have thought many things like I hope he knows I love him, and am thinking about him etc.... I have his voicemail and I listen to it everyday multiple times. I got his address about a week after he left and have been writing ever since. I miss him so much and think about him in everything I do and any move I make. I really need a phone call, does anyone know about how long it will be? In the message he left he said about 2 weeks. How long will it be before I will know this grad date? I want to go and see it.

Meegan, I know that it feels horrible to have missed his call...but the one bright side is you have it on voicemail to listen to anytime you want!

Please Join the Boot Camp Moms link Denise provided and take a look at the other two.

You may have already recieved a box with his clothes and such in it. The Form Letter is not to far behind! It arrives snail mail.

What Ship Division is he in?

I am a "Veteran" mom on the PIR (Pass-in-Review..graduation date) Groups and can direct you over to yours if it is formed. You will find other veteran moms there who can answer your questions and lend support as well as connect up with members who have loved ones with the same PIR date. It will also have lots of information to help you plan to attend PIR.
