My daughter is highly involved in with horses and shows them in 4-H and we volunteer at the stables as much as possible. To take the family's focus off of my son, we volunteered to help with lead rides for a 6 year old little girl's birthday party. Everything went great!

We've been there alot over the past 7 months and became good friends with the owner. We were in her office and she stopped mid-sentence and asked "Do you have any office experience?" I just looked at her and smiled a huge, 'you bettcha' smile. This smile was returned to me with an offer. Would I be willing to volunteer to work the office and free up the supervisors to run the stables? Would I?!!!! An absolute YES!, came out of my mouth.

After the party, we were helping treat a horse who has a cracked hoof. While I was standing beside her (don't remember the horses name), I was petting her, running my hands from her ears, down her back, continuing down her legs. My daughter was helping keep her hoof in a bucket of medicated water. Both of us just tending to this beautiful animal like she was our own. The owner of the stables looked at me and said "You should go into Equine Therapies." She and I talked about it while tending to the horse. She told me how to get the information and luckily there is a college near me that offers the service. I am currently looking at the cost, getting a grant and other information. The funny thing is, about two months ago my husband said the same thing to me after watching me calm a horse who was rather antsy.

So, while this isn't an ordinary blog about my son and how much I miss him and hope that he's doing well. It's more of a blog about my amazing day and how one person can change my life and get me out of the house to focus on something else for a while. I can't wait to start! I definately can't wait to tell my son. I know my SR will be as proud of me going back to school (grant approval pending), as I am of him.
