My boyfriend left for basic training. I have some questions.

He called me last Tuesday 6/11/13 and said he was about to arrive at basic so it was the last time we had talked. He mentioned that I will receive a package in 3 weeks. I have already received a package with the clothes he was wearing when he left for the Great Lakes. Some of my thoughts are:

  • Am I going to have all my questions answered with this package that's otw?
  • If not, can you guys help me out?
  • What kind of things am I allowed to send him?
  • What kind of things SHOULD I send him?
  • Do they make facebook pages for classes in basic training?

The form letter will give you his address and PIR date. A lot of your questions will be answered there and within Arrival and What Happens at the RTC. Letter Writing & Fun Stuff/Questionnaires to send to your Recruit will let you know what you can and cannot send him. Both of those pages are within BootCamp Moms (and loved ones). I invite you to join that group while you are there and to check out the other Pages (found under the pictures of the Members) as well.

You may want to join the group, DEP-Leavin for bootcamp in June, to connect with others with loved ones who left t he same day and may have PIR together. Girlfriends, Fiances, and Wives of Sailors will also have information and support for you.

Once you know your SR’s PIR date and/or division number, watch in Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones) and/or at http://www.navyformoms.com/forum/topics/groups-listed-by-pir-date and join the group for that once it has been created. There will also be a fB page for loved ones for each TG and you can watch for more on that in the RTC's fB page at https://www.facebook.com/NavyRecruitTrainingCommand. The PAO posts pictures randomly, so be pleasantly surprised if you see a pic of your SR.

Furthermore, you and his family should be in on this together. Coordinate letter sending so he will receive something every day. He only sends out one form letter. Share this with his family. Make sure the family knows when PIR is & the password for the printing the parking pass. If his mother is not on this site, invite her to join. Make sure they know the critical information. They will love you for it and HE will love you for being so good to his family.
