Well first of all my boyfriend left on June 13th. We got his box & form letter already. Today on the 23rd i got my first letter from him, he sent me two letters. He said they messed up his shipdate & that he was supposed to leave a week earlier. So he had to catch up with everyone else, which was hard. But he said he's all caught up for now but they are about to have to pull his wisdom teeth out & he will have to play catch up again. I feel so bad for him but he said boot camp is changing him into a man instead of a wreckless teenager. Also he said it is making him realize how much more he wants me apart of his life. I cant wait to see him at graduation on August 5th.

Hi. I wish you and your boyfriend the best!! It would make it alot easier for you to find your PIR group. You will find important information that will help you through the next several weeks. My son went thru PIR in February. The first two weeks were full of getting shots, hair cuts, physicals, and like yours, some had wisdom teeth pulled. They also weed out the ones that shouldn't be there. My sons boot camp was a total of 9 weeks, but I think that may have changed by now. Not sure. PIR is always on a Friday and never cancelled. He had to stay in the GL for a couple of extra days before he was sent to Pensacola for A school which lasted around 30 days once it got started. He was on hold for a couple of weeks first which included more physical training. Immediately after A school C school started and then he finally got a 10 day leave. It was easier to get it all done and then get leave that way he wouldn't have to go back to Pensacola for 3 weeks of C school, instead he could go directly to where ever his orders sent him. Good to hear that your boyfriend is making positive changes. The Navy was a great decision my sailor made. It does open their eyes to alot. Only positive things can come from this. Remember to stay strong for him. You will go weeks before you hear from him or maybe even get a letter. Phone calls are earned. The next required call is after Battlestations just before graduation when they call home with the official "I'M A SAILOR" call. Remember "No news is good news". PIR is an experience you should not miss!! Take lots Kleenex, and wear waterproof mascara! lol Usually they are allowed 4 tickets. The size of the graduating class will determine whether or not they allow extra people to enter. Check out the navy boot camp videos on you tube. They are great! Anyway, enough of my rambling!! I had a really strong cup of coffee a little while ago. lol Must be the caffeine. Wishing you and your boyfriend the very best and keeping him in my prayers!! Feel free to contact me if you like.

Hi, Thank you so much. I have already joined the PIR group. yes we are hoping after graduation that he wont be one of the sailors that has to graduate & go straight to Pensacola. We haven't decided to drive or fly yet because of that. What job was your sailor in? Mines in AIRR (Air rescue swimmer). Im not sure how long his A school will be yet. We plan on getting married after it all. I graduate from school in May.

My son is an Aviation Ordinanceman. He was a grad and go, but what they did was move them to a different part of the base where things were more relaxed for them. They were finally able to watch some TV!! lol I found this link about AIRR. http://www.navy.mil/search/display.asp?story_id=45052. Hopefully it will give you some kind of a time frame. It looks like it may be a long one. Oh wait....this is much better link!! http://www.navy.com/careers/special-operations/air-rescue.html. When you talk to him stay strong. The reason they are not allowed calls, phones, tv's and radios is because they need them focused on what they're doing instead of the stress's from home. Support him and please stay strong! He's gonna need all it the positive energy you can give him! Good luck!! Keeping you both in my prayers!!
