My Daughter leaves for Boot Camp on 1/23/13,anyone else?

My little girl leaves in 5 days and my heart is so sad right now, I've had a knot in my stomach for about a week and I'm not looking forward to saying goodbye to my first born. I still have 3 boys left at home, but there's nothing like the connection and friendship mothers and daughters share. I will miss her soooo much!

I see you have joined the group, DEP-Leavin' for Boot Camp in January; there you will connect with others with loved ones who will leave the same day or week and may have PIR together.

Be sure to check out the discussion, Things to Do in the Last Month Before Your Future Sailor Leaves for.... I also suggest you join Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones) and New Members Stop Here and check out the Pages (found under the pictures of the Members) and Discussions there.

Once you know your SR’s PIR date and/or division number, watch in Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones) and/or at http://www.navyformoms.com/forum/topics/groups-listed-by-pir-date and join the group for that once it has been created. Arrival and What Happens at the RTC within Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones) will let you know what is happening once she arrives at the RTC, but you will also want to check out the other Pages in all of the groups.

You may also want to check out Women in the Navy, Mom’s of Navy Daughters, and Mom's of Daughters 2.

Your future Sailor may want to join http://www.navydep.com to learn the ins and outs from the DEP point of view. Craig runs that and will steer him/her to some good links on there.

I am also feeling the "unwanted excitement" as my son leaves for GL on March 13th and I am so not ready for it!  It is really starting to hit me hard and what's worse is that my other son, who will turn 18 a couple weeks after my oldest leaves for BC, is not holding it together very well.  He has been having more "crying spells" as each day passes and gets closer to his departure date...that hurts me more than anything because I know I have to be strong and keep things together for him as well but it is very hard because I have no one I can "break down" or "lose it" to.  :o(  I most certainly feel your pain.  I wish you all the best!  Keep your head up and smile and be proud!  :o)

Hi there - you are in the right place.  My daughter left on December 10th - we celebrated Christmas early - and I was so bummmed - that I wanted to take down the tree the day after.  The day after Christmas (26th) I got my firs real letter from her - it was simply one of the best thing ever.  I have only 3 weeks until I see her again and can't believe how I have changed - about my feelings of her being gone - I miss her like crazy - but I have such a feeling of pride.  I was also active duty many moons ago.  Write. Every. Day.  Get everyone to write.  As letter to us are important - they are worth their weight in gold for your recruit.  Let your recruit know anytime they call you - that you are so proud and they are doing the right thing.  As soon as you find out their ship & division search this site for their group.
