The first letter will be the form letter and will tell you her PIR date and the address to write her as well as the names of the 4 people she plans to put on the Access List to see her PIR.

You might want to join DEP-Leavin for bootcamp in November to connect with others with loved ones who let this week.

You may want to check out http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tvKAhmgkoj4 and http://www.navydep.com/forums/showthread.php?t=433. They will give you an idea of what is happening.

You may want to join, or at least check out, Boot Camp Moms, PIR Reference Information, and New Members Stop Here. Once you know your SR’s PIR date and/or division number, watch in Boot Camp Moms and/or at http://www.navyformoms.com/forum/topics/groups-listed-by-pir-date and join the group for that once it has been created.

You are so welcome.  (((((NavyMom71)))))  That's a cyber hug from one Navy Mom to another.  You will do just fine.  Things do get better.

Remember, "No news is good news!" Here are some things that you do know: she is safe; she is physically fit or getting there; she is learning new things that will help her throughout her life; she is being fed well; she has any medical and dental needs taken care of; she is making friends, and you know where she is since she is at the RTC. If there was a problem, you would be called and that is not a call you want to receive. You have placed her in the best hands of all--those of God and the US Navy.

My son is currently in boot camp and his PIR is 11-30-12. It is tough at first and I wish I could tell you it gets easier. Some days are easier than others. Yesterday I got a 1 hr phone call from him. He's in Week 5 now and some recruits in his division won a special phone call for high test scores. It was great to hear his voice....but hard to say goodbye again. Just write write write.

Once you know the PIR date, search Facebook (if you're a member) and join any groups for that PIR date. You'll find LOTS of parents and loved ones who are going through the same things you are and you'll get information (and be able to give information) from and to others with SRs in your daughter's division. It has helped me A LOT.

The most I hear from my son is he's tired a lot due to "watch" and basic boredom as he puts it. He said that about 80% of his division have had their wisdom teeth removed, many have the sniffles/sinus problems, but that's to be expected in small confined spaces. He says to not worry though, they take excellent care of them. He says the food is great. LOL! He says (and I hear this from a lot of other families) that the other boys in his division are like his brothers now, which comforted me because he has 3 older brothers and I know he was missing them the first couple weeks.

Feel free to add me if you'd like. I know having a daughter in the Navy isn't the same as having a son, but there are a lot of similarities. :)
