OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

I am so sorry for your loss, Paula. My dad passed on in July.

I would have lost it too. The ballcaps sound cool, I only have dad's retired Navy one.

We didn't have a burial, dad was cremated. But we did have a 21 gun salute and TAPS. I saluted the Chief who presented me with the flag, caught him off guard. We then did a white dove release, funny, because the birds were a bit spooked by the guns. Too bad the mortuary is on a busy street, it would have been beautiful in a cemetery. I have dad's flag and my grandfather's flag. We used my grand dad's flag at my brother's funeral, he was an Army vet, but my SIL didn't make the arrangements for his flag.

Oh, we laughed about the birds too. The busy street was appropriate as he worked on the flight deck and had lost his hearing.

Dad's urn is next to mom's urn on the top of my bookshelf by my desk.

Thanks everyone.

I never did visit the USS Arizona, even though dad was stationed in Hawaii for a couple years. He would not take us, nor visit the Peace Memorial in Hiroshima when we were near there. He was a brave warrior, but hated war.
