I am very heartbroken and upset for my son, he called last night and said that he had bad news, don't make plans to come to graduation on 11/15 unless he calls me back. He couldn't let me know anything, but I am certain he has failed one of the test to advance him to Battlestations. I have many friends and co-workers that are trying to comfort me, but I couldn't even go to work today and am working from home I am so worried. I emailed RTC and asked them if he was hurt, they replied and said - no - he is not hurt, just working to pass a test. Are there any other parents out there going through this heartbreak? My son is 18 - right out of high school. He has had positive letters and passed everything to date and this call knocked the wind out of my sails as I am sure he feels the same or worse.
Thanks everyone for your kind comments. My son has received top secret clearance for his field (cryptology) and I just can't believe that he has come this far not to pass something. Many people have told me the Navy wants him to succeed and they will work with him. I am just waiting for the next call :)
dont be discouraged your son will let you know b4 the weeks end
Trying to stay positive and praying for the upper body strength he needs, I am almost positive it is the push ups, he had trouble with those before he left for boot camp and worked on them everyday. Prayers going up!!! :)
and for the record, this often happens there to other sr's. So don't start to think your an outcast. :) Blessings
Congratulations to all of the new Sailors in Ship 12 Div 003, and God Speed!! My son was held back in div 003 and from graduating on 11/15, but I have all of the faith in God and in him that he will overcome this hurdle and graduate soon!! God says don't see it to believe it, Believe it to see it, and I do!! Praise him!!! :)
woohoo, thats the spirit, don;t ever let the father of lies get in the way,, backing you up with prayers for Hayden, he will have a second wind that will be unstoppable!
Thank you, Hello2u, very kind of you to say!!!
Sade, if you haven't gotten a call saying that he didn't pass the run by the end of the day on Monday, then everything is on for him to have PIR on time on Friday. Recruits usually call on or before the Friday before PIR, but sometimes an RDC will hold off on moving a recruit to FIT so the recruit can paticipate in Captain's Cup or if the RDC is planning something special for the division on Saturday or Sunday if the division had done well on something. Don't stress about it. You haven't gotten a call, so everything is on track for PIR on Friday.
This happened to another sailor at my sons PIR but, he took the PRT three days before graduation and went through Battlestations 2 days before, He still graduated with his division so keep your chin up. I'm sure he will do fine. The other shipmates in his division are usually very helpful and help support each other.
