My oldest son (19) left yesterday for BC in Illinois.  I am a wreck.  Did nothing but cry yesterday.

I have another son age 17 who has one more year in Tech School.  Please can someone put my

mind at ease about what goes on there.  I here many diff things.  I sometimes don't think I will

be able to do this waiting without crying everyday.  I am very proud of him, believe me.  His dad

passed away in 2011 and I know he misses him very much and would have loved for him to be here.

I just want to know if they are ok while they are they are there.  When can I expect to talk to him?

Please help  :)

Your SR will submit the names for the Access List 10-14 days prior to PIR. Make sure you know who he is going to list (he put some names on the form letter) because only those on the Access List can get into PIR. PIR Day and Liberty During PIR Weekend within Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones) will help you plan for PIR weekend and tells you what you need. What is your SR's (job/specialty) going to be? There are groups for most ratings and/or "A" Schools and knowing that will help you to better plan for PIR weekend.

what he wants to do, there were no openings at the time. Master of Arms, so he will be trying to get in there and apply for it all the time he said. On the Form letter he listed, mom dad, sister.. . He didnt list our actual names.. Lord help us :)...

Yes, it is fine for him to put those on the form letter since that is for you and saved him time. He will list your actual names when the time comes; if you have any reason to think he doesn't know the right way to list the names, write him and let him know. There is info on that on the main page of Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones). Did he get a contract in one of the PACT programs then? If so, Professional Apprenticeship Career Tracks (PACT) Program has information to help you.

Master of Arms is what he wants to do.

So, what is his current contract for? In most cases, he will not be able to change his contract in BC. You keep saying Master at Arms is what he wants, but you haven't said what his current contract is for.

Lynn, I'm glad I could help. If your SR does one day get a chance for "A" School for MA, let me know because Master at Arms is a rating very dear to my heart since my Sailor is an MA.
