My son is having a hard time emotionally

Can anyone tell me what am I suppose to do whenever your child is having a hard time emotionally. My heart bleeds for him. His first phone call home and it was that. Not what I expected.

I think that is pretty common esp with first phone call. I wrote several letters of support a week and had friends and family send him letters too. My niece's 6th grade class all wrote him letters of encouragement (my sister had asked the teacher and he made it a project). My son saved every letter he got. Said they helped him so much! It does get easier for them as they move on in the training. Good luck!

Almost everyone has a hard time the first few weeks. Third week is when the divisions begin to work as a team, and they rely on each other. They start making progress and success helps them see they can be sailors. All part of the process.

Same with me, my daughter was excited & nervous! Her fist real phone call she cried a lot! By the end of our 10 minute call I got a laugh out of her! When they said times up she started crying again! I send a letter every other day and she has only recieved 1 so far! She did sound tired, but she got a section leader pin, I guess thats a good thing? This is one of the hardest things I have had to do! I'm glad I found this site!

My son left on December 2nd, we just got a letter from him on thursday or friday and too my surpirise he sounded so down and homesick. I can tell he is out of his comfort zone. He called Saturday morning 0630 PT and we missed the call :(   Now I keep sending letters, but O can't help to feel very bad. From all the blogs I've read it does not seen like he gets to call again. Has anyone had there child have a change around after the third week?

Marymom3= Yes around 3 weeks in my son did sound better even cracked jokes, He did tell me he really look forward too my letters it helps know what's going on at home He did adment my letter as well as pic made him miss home his words "Mom I  need those letter and pic yes seeing them make me cry and reading your words make me cry Mom I cry a lot but that's OK"  My son is a ruff and tuff Texas boys he is growing to be a Man if he has no problem letting out his emotion.

It will get better as Mom WE what to make everything better, We hurt when they hurt We are sad when they are sad.

I'm new to this "blog" thing so please forgive me if I fumble a bit. My son left 12/8 and got my first call 12/17 and he was an emotional train wreck. Found out his adjustment wasn't going as well as I'd hoped and he was moved from his original ship\div. Like most the moment I got off the phone I put the word out to the family and supporting letters were flying out to him in masses. I haven't heard from him since and have no idea if he's got his fight back to move forward or if hes being "systematically evaluated" to get rid of him. I'm not sure if I'm more upset because I couldn't fix it right away or completely frustrated from not knowing. He's wanted this for so long I'd hate for those with the almighty decision making abilities to just write him off as unable to adjust when he really just needs a push in the right direction. Any thoughts??????

Write him many many letters and send cards and let him know you're cheering for him and you know he can do it!!
