My Son leaves for Boot Camp in 2 wks

My son Chase leaves for Bootcamp on October 25th 2012 and I was wondering if anybody else's child leaves on that day.  He was scheduled to leave on October 30th 2012 but was moved up.  As the days get closer it becomes harder to know that soon I wont be able to see him for awhile.  I am so proud of his decision to join the Navy but can't help feeling that I don't want to let him go.

Hi Deanna

my son left 10/4 but I wanted to encourage you. for me the anticipation of him going was worse than this week with him being gone. For the last couple weeks leeding up to him leaving whenever i thought of it or said it i would get a little teary or choked up. then after the airport and the whole next day i was emotionally drained. Lots of moms struggle with the first few weeks of boot camp too before they can really send letters. Right now I am living by the motto no news is good news. stay on here, jump in on chat when you visit, join groups if you haven't allready. Everyone I have met here is super nice :0)

Lauren  I feel the exact same way, that is the hardest part of him leaving knowing that I will not be seeing him much at all for at least the next 4 yrs if not longer.  He is also the first to join the military in my family, his dad was also in the Navy when he was 18 but was no longer in it when we had met.

Wow Lauren your son sounds alot like my son he doesnt really talk about going and acts like nothing is happening.  I made an appointment and went and visited with the recruiter the other day just so I could know everything that was going to happen when he left because he doesn't ask any questions.   Chase will be going to Pensacola for his A school.
