my son also left on Tuesday, Feb 26, 2013 for great lakes. actually, he was delayed until the next day because we had a snow storm here. just remember, count the weeks until graduation, don't count the days. before you know it; it will be here. this is my second son within six months to leave . main thing is once you get the address of your son, writing is so important while they are in boot camp. this experience is just as new to them as it is for you. Belief me, i cried all the time. The mention of my sons name and even seeing the Navy commercials, i cried like a baby. We are all here with you. Keep smiling, it does get better.

Join us in Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones) (clickable link). You will soon be receiving your form letter, so once you know the date, join the group for that as well--either PIR 04/26/2013 TG 24 or PIR 04/19/2013 TG 23 7 Divisions (151-156, 923).

theresa320 have you received a call yet since the arrival? I haven't and I keep carrying my cell phone around waiting-LOL. I had a Fed Ex note yesterday that an attempt to leave a package was made-should be here today and I am positive it is my sons things. No letter yet either.I am crying just thinking of opening the box and seeing his stuff-Ugh!! I have been writing everyday and can't wait to mail the letters. Sorry I am all over the place. Thanks for your advice. One week down and counting...

i received a call from my son late Wednesday (2/27/2013) evening and he said he would call in three weeks. no box yet with his clothes. I hate that box with their clothes. when my first son left last october and I saw that sitting on my porch, i cried like a baby. Hopefully, we will get a letter with their graduation date so I can make my reservations. When my first son left in October, i wrote or send at least three letters/cards each week so he would have something to open. i am going to do the same with my second son. i also sent a few pictures in a few of my letters. Don't apologize for being all over the board, we are all like that. I am getting tears in my eyes just writing this.Heck, i cry at the Navy commercials on tv. Yep, one week down and the rest will go fast. Have a good day.

so nice to hear that I am not crazy-LOL You are amazingly strong to go through this twice (you are my hero)!!! I hope graduation dates are the same so we can meet. You have a great day too!

I just opened my sons box-it arrived about 40 minutes ago. I am still crying and when I saw his address book in there I lost it!! I hope he can remember our phone numbers and address with all that is going on. If not I am going to lose my mind. I have faith he has memorized them unlike his mother...He is going to be heartbroken if he didn't...Ugh!!! I need to have faith that God has this!!

your welcome. hope to see you at graduation also. what i did is sometimes when i sent funny cards, i put names and address and phone numbers on the back of the cards. you will be fine.. oh, when you go to the graduation, the Sarge's meet and greet on thursday night before the graduation, we really enjoyed. he had a lot of info and food was good.

Mary, When you get form letter, write to him and include a card with important phone numbers so he can have it with him when he makes phone calls and include a page of the addresses of people he will want to write.

Mary, join the group, DEP-Leavin' for Boot Camp in February, to connect with others with loved ones who left today and may have PIR together.

You may want to join, or at least check out, Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones), PIR Reference Information, and New Members Stop Here. Once you know your SR’s PIR date and/or division number, watch in Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones) and/or at http://www.navyformoms.com/forum/topics/groups-listed-by-pir-date and join the group for that once it has been created. There will be a lot of great information and support for you in those groups. Be sure to check out the Pages (found under the pictures of the Members) and Discussions within the groups. Arrival and What Happens at the RTC within Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones) will let you know what is happening, but you will also want to check out the other Pages in all of the groups.
