I need help finding a motel/hotel near boot camp.  Trying to find a deal with flight/hotel, and shuttle from hotel to graduation.   Funds are limited.  I do not want to miss the graduation - this is a once in lifetime event for my son, and I want him to know how proud I am by being there.  Any information would be appreciated.  Thank you.

Proud, many of the hotels there give discounts if you tell them you are there for sailors graduation, plus many also offer shuttle service. Navy Lodge is not too far away, and is nice, you can Google it. Many are reasonably priced in the area. You should be proud of him, naturally so. And believe me, it is something you don't want to miss either. Been nearly four yrs for me, but I remember it like it wad yesterday! Pack plenty of kleenix, cause it is a real eye opener! Congrats and Good Luck!

Flight options: don't forget the Milwaukee airport as an option! There is a shuttle from the airport to an Amtrak station. For $23, you get to downtown Chicago. Transfer to Metra (UP North line), different station nearby, and for $7, you get to Great Lakes itself. Midway and Ohare both are served by the CTA. Take the train to the Loop and walk over to the Ogilvie Transportation Center to get the right Metra train. Metra info is www.metrarail.com .

Hi :). Quality Inn in Waukegan is only like 2 miles away from the base and has free shuttle to and from graduation. Nights are only $59 >> hope this helps :)

Thank you all!  The information is very helpful, and I appreciate all the answered!  Received my first letter today, this lifted much of the worry, although I don't think that ever goes away as a parent.  Again,  thank you!
