Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

I've seen where some of the mothers send their kids jokes. Like maybe out of the newspaper or something. I've thought about doing that. Not much happening in my world other than missing my son so my letters tend to get pretty dull as well. Good luck. I've also thought of sending inspirational/encouraging posts. Thought about maybe hand writing them on an index card or something. Just a few ideas.

Have you sent him the "questionnaires" from the boot camp group? At least, I think they're posted on boot camp..... If not, let me know and I'll find them.

No matter what you write, write every day. And throw in an extra letter for your recruit to pass on to a friend who has no support or isn't getting any letters. I did that and the girl still writes me :) I wrote everyday and all of my daughters friends said she had the best mom in the world. I told her everything that was happening at home from what we had for dinner to what the crazy insane neighbors were up to lol. I even wrote her a letter from her cat and told her how he feels neglected and no one will feed him as much as he likes and that he was put on a diet, so what if he had gained a couple of pounds, if they didn't give him more food he was contemplating a snack of one so called tropical fish named Gill that belongs to her little brother lol. It was so funny and she was laughing so hard she had to let her friends read it. So it really doesn't matter what you write, just write!!! :)

I have been going online and sending my son jokes and things to lift his spirit, I would research inspirational quotes and he seemed to enjoy that.

We also went to places like Taco Bell and got food wrappers to put in his letters. He said it was cruel but funny, and his RDC laughed, too.

Hi, I am second time bc mom. I have shared with others this idea but it seems appropriate to share this here.
While my 1st Sailor was in bc he said there wasnt much room in his locker. So every two weeks I would pre-address (both to and from had our home address on it in case there wasnt enought postage on it I could pay it when it got here instead of being sent back to him) Pre-stamped about 6 or 8 'Forever' stamps Small Manila Envelope and folded it up and mailed in a regular envelope for him to send home any letters he wanted to keep so he wouldnt have to throw them away to make room. He sent them all home and I have them packed away in my trunk safely for him to have when he is an old man and wants to go through them. He really liked I did that.
Also while he was in bc I got small poster board with a big black marker and went around having his friends, teachers, coaches write something inspirational for him and took a picture of them holding it. I loved his coach's he pointed his finger at him and glared and wrote "get out there and get it done!" LOL I sent it about 1/2 way through his bc and when he came home he said that was the best and that he really needed it at that moment.

I saw where one mom went on their child's facebook page and asked all their friends to write frequent messages and she would print it out every week.
