Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Hello,
I'm new to this site so I'm still trying to get familiarized with things. I really need a good friend to talk t because I'm about to worry myself crazy. My son just left for boot camp yesterday and I'm so worried about him. He told me that it would be three weeks before he could call home again and that really freaks me out. Not knowing how he' doing everyday is going to be so nerve wrecking for me. I really need someone to help me through these next 8 weeks.

Hi! And welcome! There is a lot to learn and many sites to get information and support! My daughter left on August 12 and it was so hard but it does go fast. Keep busy and write every day! It will take about 10 days to get the form letter with his address but if you write every day you will have mail to send out to him as soon as you get the address! I am doing a daily journal of things that happen while my daughter is gone. I think it helps me keep my thoughts and feelings all down so I can share when she comes
home. It has helped me a lot to journal! Good luck on this journey with your son and know you have a huge support group with all the Navy Moms! Don't be afraid to ask anything!

my son left last week 9/09/15 and i got the phone call that he got there safely 9/10 for 40 sec.I got his box yesterday and it gets better everyday .

Hi I am new to this site too.. Trying to get familiar with everything on here.. Which I have come across a lot of helpful information. My son left on Sept 1st we did receive his box of belongings appx a week later. As each day goes by and not talking to him is hard not knowing how he is doing or what he is doing.. I received my 1st hand written letter today and it put me to ease a lot getting his letter knowing he is doing well. Or as he said in his letter he is still "kicking" haha! You are not alone in this! I have my good and bad days not easy letting go of our kids. : )

StephanieFNP, don't dread. We've all been there. My son is graduating next week, I've only gotten two phone calls, the I am here and an additional one that lasted less than 20 minutes. It's been a roller-coaster, but with the help of so many amazing mothers both in this site and on facebook,I've survived. Sit tight and enjoy the ride.join the Navy moms & PIR Friends on Facebook. Once you join, then you can join your son's PIR group. Those groups are as amazing as this site. Feel free to contact me with any questions you might have.

Feel like I'm going crazy too and mine just got to BC last night :(. Day 2 in this way too quiet house...ugh.
