Hi! My name is Kandice and I am a New Navy Mom. My son left for boot camp on the 12th of this month. I received the special delivery of the box exactly a week later . Let me tell you I cried, and cried. It is so hard to let go of this image of this little boy in your head, but yet knowing he is a young man.....

Michael is my first born, my first everything, whether it was learning to walk, from skinned knees to bikes,  to his first car, and let me say he is my first to join the military. I am very proud of Michael's decision. And I know he will be successful sailor, and make our country proud. Because I do have to say for the first twenty one years of his life he has done nothing but make us proud. And through this journey he is preparing us; for when our other son Morgan leaves for the Marines.

I received the letter yesterday! Nothing but smiles from me. Just to see his handwriting on the blank lines where he was to comment made me so happy. Will be sending his first letter out today!!

My hopes in joining NavyForMoms, is to get a chapter going in our county. I just found out they do not have one, so there could be a lot of wonderful ways to support our sons and daughters. May God Bless Each and Every One of You!!

                                                                                                                      Kandice

I should have know Michael would become a sailor!!!

I laughed out loud when I saw your pix above, and the caption.  I have a pix of my son in almost the same outfit when he was a baby.  Yep, he is a Sailor too.  Good luck to you and your sons!

My son has been in the US Navy for 4 years, was stationed in Hawaii for several years, got married there, and now has 3 children who call him Daddy. Presently his family lives in Virginia, while he is deployed overseas.

The moms in this group are a really nice bunch of ladies.  Welcome!

Have you received the form letter yet? Join the group that corresponds with the PIR date on the letter. If the date is Sept 16, a group has not been formed. If you feel up to it, feel free to start one. Click on the two latest groups and use theirs as templates. Good luck.

Thanks! I am very proud and I know you are of your sons decision to join the Navy. August 22nd is right around the corner, but I think you are a step ahead of other moms. You became involved early. I wish I would have checked out the groups available for moms whose kids were in DEP. So you are getting prepared early!!

You know what; we never are prepared. My son is so kind hearted and loving, it made it really hard knowing that he is not here. I get that random moment in a doctors office, or wal-mart saying oh Michael would like that; and then the tears. But I am very excited thinking that he is starting his future. These boys are smart. They are not only serving their country, but making long term goals for their future plans.... Hang in there!

Just remember to keep your glass half full. (Positive) Not wine! lol Unless you need it...
