OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Hello everyone,
I am new to this site and I would love some friends to talk to . My Sailor is in San Diego and I was wondering if anyone else has a Sailor out there too. I am looking forward to lending and gaining support from this site. He has been in the navy now for 11 months, so most of the processs isn't new. I will answer ANY questions I can. No question is too stupid and no feeling you have is too silly. I get to see my Sailor in 26 days! For teh very first time in over 6 months. It doesn't seem real yet, and a part of me feels like something is going to fall through and I wont be able to see him. I'm scared they will ship him out with only a days notice...they have a tendency of doing this.

Brenda Kay, My sailor has been in San Diego since October also. He is stationed on something called the USS Jarett FFG-33. He leaves for his very first real deployment in August and wont return untill March. I have unfortuanaly not seen him since December, but I am hoping to see him in just 26 short days, however I'm scared somethign will fall through and I wont be able to come because his orders tend to change with a days notice, so it makes things difficult. I'm so sorry you wont know when you will seee him again. The short deployment goes by fast. My Sailor did it and he was back before I knew it. I would make notes in a journal so that it would remind me of all things we needed to talk about when he could call me again. This helps alot. By the time your Sailor leaves in January I will be able to help you then too, and tell you what deployment life is like. Thanks for the reponce

I have a question for you... my son will PIR the end of May. After that he stays at Great Lakes for his first phase of special ops. Will he be allowed to have his cell phone & laptop with him after boot camp? Also Shirley noted that there are some groups where I can learn more... where would I find those groups? I feel like there is SO much that I don't know. I have no idea what to expect. I've only had two 10 min phone calls from my son & very little info. in his few letters. Would appreciate a "heads up" for what to expect after boot camp.

Darkal my navy boy is special ops too. he was aloud to have his cell phone and lap top. It took a few weeks into his spec war training though. Even with the groups that are out ther, you wont get too much, as what they do is HIGHLY classified. i know I often get in trouble about talking about studd that happens during his traing. Be careful not to get your sailor into trouble. They can get into trouble for things WE SAY! HOW REDICULOUS! After bootcamp, he will probably head to Coronado California which is right near San diego. That is where BUDS training and other Spec war stuff happens. Shcooling is TERRIBLY HARD AND ROUGH. You can NEVER send enough letters during this training. It make bootcamp look like heaven. It pushes these boys FAR beyond their limits. My sailor got through and I cried EVERYDAY while he was in training. I prayed to God that he wouldn't give up. They are incredibly mean to our men, but it's just to prepare them.
