New to the site and can't seem to find the answers?

Hey everyone, first time asking a question and I know it has been asked before but I tried reading through older post and there are way to many. I have really found a ton of great info. My question is my son left Meps and arrived in Great Lakes may6. I have a few questions. First being is there way I can get his ship and division number so I can locate his PIR? I am a single father and trying to schedule my summer vacation with my daughter so we can see his PIR. My other question is how do I locate a group that has the same PIR as my son or can I create one if there hasn't been one established as of yet. My other question is how do I locate a group that has the same PIR as my son or can I create one if there hasn't been one i'm thinking it will be the second or third week in July according to everything I've read so far but do not see any groups for this timeframe yet. Any info or links would really be helpful. Thank you everybody for your help

Go to Groups and join the Bootcamp Moms Group. There is a ton of information there for you to read up on. You will get your son's Ship/Div number in the form letter that usually arrives in around 10 days (usually after the box). Once you get that information, keep an eye out in that group. They will post the PIR information based on the Divisions. PIR is usually 8 or 9 Fridays from when they arrive at GL. If they arrive on a Mon or Tues they may end up in a push division so you can't be sure. When you join the PIR page they will have groups set up within based upon Division so that you can converse with other family members with SR in the same division. Best of luck to you and your SR, it is an exciting time!

PIR will most likely be Thursday, 2 July 2015. Wait on the form letter. There are seasoned members who will start the PIR group once someone receives the form letter. Watch in Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones) and/or at http://www.navyformoms.com/forum/topics/groups-listed-by-pir-date and join the group for that once it has been created.

Wow I really appreciate all the great advise everyone. You are all so helpful. It's hard to budget at the last minute and this has really been and continues to be a source of great knowledge and support.

Keep in touch with his recruiter - that's how I got my son's info because our Form Letter was lost, damaged in the mail - had to send my son a form to fill out to get our info - then about 2 weeks ago we got the form letter in an envelope with an apology letter from the post office. Visit this site often because info is always being posted.  And like lemonelephant mentioned, wait about 2 weeks before you bombard recruiter with texts or calls.  I think my situation was rare.  Good luck!
