I'm not asking you to read this blog! Although I do appreciate being read by you.

I'm suggesting a couple of books that you, your SR's parents or siblings might enjoy reading. I found out about these books by reading a blog by another Navy Mom written ages ago. My husband has been enjoying reading these and I think they provide us with a little comfort in learning what our SR is learning. And seeing a little into boot camp life  is never a bad thing, as we're all pretty much out of the loop!

The first is the actual manual that your SR is studying today! It's available for ustoo.... filled with tons of good information for even me, as I don't want to be completely ignorant of Navy life.

It's called "The Bluejacket's Manual" I have the 24th edition published in 2009, by Thomas Cutler.

The second is a book written by a man who was allowed to follow 83 men and women  in 2000 from their arrival to Great Lakes through their PIR. My husband read this in 2 sittings. He couldn't put it down! I believe this book is out of print. I was able to find a used edition on Amazon. Because it's out of print it was more expensive (even though used) than it's  cover price. But it was well worth the cost as it might be fun for our SR to read it too, LATER! It has currently been borrowed by our SR's older brother.

Title: "Honor, Courage, Committment, Navy Boot Camp"by J.F. Leahy

Judging by the posts I am reading from many women, I think this final book  might be worth finding! It was written by a new Navy Mom who was searching for scripture and advice on how to handle a son going off to serve his country. She's not a writer or a  pastor... just a Mom looking for a publication seeking help. Not finding anything in support of her quest, she wrote the book herself. If you want validation of your thoughts, biblical encouragement, an outline of the Navy core of values or an EASY read.... this is the book for you!And it's good for Dad's too!!

Title: "When the Eagle Invades the Nest, Empty Nest Military Famiies" by R. Lynn Green

Have fun, and NO I'm not getting a commission or any perks from Amazon! So, check your local library!! If you have any suggestions of books for me, I would love to learn about them. And let me know what you think of these if you read them!!

Have a wonderful week,

Hello, My son is back with his division. We too got a call Friday. He's hanging in there as they all! And it looks like he'll stay with this division as long as he continues to make up the work! Thanks for asking, and I hope you find these books. Good information in them all.
