Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Hello mom on countdown
My son has been in bootcamp 4weeks tomorrow, he is my one and only as well. I also raised him by myself as well. We just about did everything together, I am definitely feeling your pain. However I am doing much better than I thought I would. I contribute that largely to prayers from my friends,family and church family as well. I think about him everyday and I pray for him everytime he crosses my mind. I have actually spoken to him and received 2 letters so far. He will be graduating on 5/13/11. My ticket has been purchased and I CANT WAIT TO SEE HIM !!!! I have noticed a mature change in him even through the letters and our 1 time conversation. My advice to you is to continue to do the things that make you happy and remember that we raised them to be productive citizens, respectful men and to follow their passions. What makes our sons happy is what they will flourish in, even when it gets tough. I miss my son dearly, however I am proud that he at 18 yrs made this decision for himself and he is on his own journey that I helped set the ground work for all those previous years. MOM YOU ARE GOING TO BE JUST FINE. KEEP IN TOUCH

I too was a single mom for a couple of years. My son is my only child and we are very close (He called me 3 times on Easter) Bootcamp is rough on everyone but the best advice I can give is to make friends on here and talk with them frequently It would of been impossible for me to do this without a great support group My son is now in Pensacola Florida at his A School and is very happy. He misses home but is making friends Ive joined the local Blue Star mothers group and also staying busy So yes MOM You are going to be fine
