Just got home Monday from my sons PIR this weekend.

First of all, thanks to this navy for moms website.  I don't know how I would of gotten through these last 8 weeks.  It is a wonderful and informative website. Thank you!

Next, congratulations to the new sailors, and go 801!!! HOOYAH

The sarges meet and greet was very interesting and he gave good tips on the graduation.  Glad we went. Food was yummy.

We had an amazing weekend with my son.  The graduation ceremony was absolutely breath taking.

We stayed at the Navy Lodge. I would stay again. It is close to the base and shopping and restaurants

Shame on the person or persons who went into the backpacks during graduation and stole money from many of the new sailors including my sons.  However, we did not let this ruin our weekend with my new sailor.

I have to be honest, I still wanted to take my son home with me.

May our Soldiers stay safe and have and amazing career.

as well as the Sailors, Marines, Air-Force ...........

Great to have you come back and post feedback. Many of us have been here for awhile. Some of us have sailors who are finished with their commitments and are pulling back to devote more time to personal projects. This site is run entirely by volunteers. Hope you stay around and help the next generation of recruits. Good luck to your sailor. Fair winds and following seas.

Suggestions on helping:

1) On Main page, you'll see a bunch of "featured" discussions - much of the information for new member can be found right there - Survival Guide, Things to do 30 days b4 BC, list of PIR groups. Please take a look at the info contained in these discussion.

2) Suggest to the member to join a few groups to "bond" - such as Boot Camp moms, the PIR groups, various groups associated with rates, New Moms Stop Here, Girlfriends/Fiancees/Wives, etc.

3) I'll be sending you a friend request, so you can visit my page - I have put together a number of blogs and discussions specially to help a new member navigate this site. If you go to my page, you'll be able to see them. Also friend lemonelephant, Angie, FireTeamLeaderWife, Abby, Craig too - Sorry, some of the other names escape me at the moment.

4) The RTC site for recruits is the most important site to remember.  The link to this site and others are all in the Survival Guide.

5) More than anything else, just a word of encouragement here and there will make a world of difference.

I have really enjoyed meeting so many new friends from every walk in life and from every corner of the US. And of course, we love to hear about YOUR sailor. The good, the bad, the mundane, etc. etc.

My family and I attended the PIR on the 30th of November. It was awesome, and you are so right the meet and greet with Sarge was very helpful. I am so sorry to hear about the misfortune you all encountered that is really sad.
