I went to Chicago and had the most wonderful time. It was so amazing to see the PIR! I am a Army brat and have been to many military ceremonies but this one tops them all! The tremendous pride you feel when your child becomes part of our country's Navy is so overwhelming. I thought my heart was gonna jump out of my chest.
The whole weekend was a whirlwind of activity, wish I could of stayed longer. My grandson had a great time. He was pretty good during the ceremony, he feel asleep at the end. So when it was over, we had to wake him up, he started to cry and I said "Aidan, Mommy is here" He saw her and his face light up, he jumped into her arms and just hugged and kissed her! I was just so happy to get that baby back into her arms, it was wonderful. I will be posting pics soon.
We went to Gurnee Mills and the Navy Pier in downtown Chicago. I met some of Chrissy's buddys. I went to the chapel service on Sunday, it was wonderful. I didn't get to met her chaplain but I did talk to one new one, and a RP, so that was nice. For Sunday lunch we went to Giordano's Famous Stuffed Pizza in Buffalo Grove near Gurnee Mills for real Chicago style pizza. It was delicious, I ate three pieces!
And shopping at the NEX! Best place to shop, got Navy souvenirs. Wonderful , wonderful, wonderful weekend!

I posted some pics, and will post more later. Well, you know they all look alike in those uniforms. Only the faces are different. At first I couldn't spot Chrissy after they all marched in, then when I realize I was looking in Div. 293 not 292! Lol, once I looked in the right div, I found her easy becasue she is taller then most of the other women.
I was not to happy with the offical pic in the dress blues becasue she is not wearing any makeup. She wasn't allowed makeup untill the day of PIR. On the bright side, she is only alowed to wear light makeup now, so she can't wear that gothic makeup she was doing before she went into the Navy. I like that rule!
