For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

By counting 9 Fridays, PIR is most likley 12/11/2015, but it could be 12/04/2015 if she is placed in a division from the TG from the week before and is in a Push Division. Wait on The Form Letter to know the PIR date for sure. Arrival and What Happens at the RTC within Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones) will let you know what will soon be happening and what to expect.

What is the "normal" time between the PIR date and when my new sailor will get his first assignment or orders? I am unsure of the correct verbage-
Any chance he would be home for a couple of weeks in between, like for the holidays? I have heard it there is a 72 hour window and then weeks in between.

skibum, there is no "normal" time since when the Sailor receives the orders to the first duty station is dependent on his contracted rating or field. They usually know about a month before they are to head to their first duty station. Those with a contract for the PACT programs often know where they will be going while they are still in BC since their training is only a few weeks. Some ratings have a long "A" School and they won't know until that is about a month from being completed.
Your then Sailor may have Leave for part of the holiday stand down, but it will all depend on his command. Some commands allow the new Sailors to "go in the hole" on Leave before completing "A" School or training and some do not and Sailors who do that then may not be able to take leave when they complete "A" School before going to their first duty station.
He will go straight to "A" School or training following PIR and will not have leave then. Those with "A" School or training in GL will check in and have daytime Liberty each day of the weekend. Those who will fly out will have Liberty the day of PIR and will most likely fly out the day after PIR. See PIR Day and Liberty During PIR Weekend to help you know how to plan your weekend.
