Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Please help!! I would like some thoughts on my situation.

I am a wife and mother of two beautiful little boys 2 and 3. I have currently finished school for medical billing and coding and realized that the school made it seem like there were tons of jobs in this field, and they are but of course you need years of experience. And, I have been thinking abou the military for awhile but I never had the gusts to join. Well, I have been making a mental pro and con list of joining and feel as though it will be the best thing to do for me in my current job situation and I also feel as though the benefits I would recieve would help a whole lot. I have been doing a lot of reasearch about the navy and reading alot of blogs and the more I read the more I want to join. I have talked with my husband, friends and family members and all feel as though they support my decision but my moms thoughts and feelings mean the most to me and she does not support my decision. With the fact that I will be away from home and that the war is going on. I want to stay in the medical field and continue my education and I know that the training I would receive in the Navy would help. Please let me know what you think. I love my husband and my children and don't want to leave home but I know its the best for our future.

If you are a single parent, please contact a recruiter for details on how you can enlist in the Navy.

Also, the Navy will normally not allow you to enlist if you have more than two dependents under the age of 18. Need more details? Contact a recruiter.

Financial Obligations
In certain cases, you must prove that you can meet your current financial obligations.

Education
Generally speaking, you must be a high school graduate, have earned a GED or have met other high school equivalency requirements to enlist in the Navy. For specific qualifying circumstances, contact a recruiter.

Drug/Alcohol Policy
The Navy has a zero tolerance drug/alcohol policy. Early in the enlistment process, you will take two urinalysis tests. You’ll also be asked questions about prior drug and alcohol use. Answer honestly. If you have questions, contact a recruiter.

Comment by wannabenavy on July 13, 2010 at 9:35pm: Thank you everybody! I'm not a single parent, my husband will be home with my kids and the high grad and drugs and alcohol is not a problem. Going to talk to recruiter asap to get the rest of my info.

The Navy is overmanned so you may have a delay, but if you truly want this, it can be a wonderful choice.
