My Sailor graduated from Nuclear Power School on Oct. 18 at NNPTC in Goose Creek, SC. It was a hard 6 months on him and me. I promise you, I went through every test, that I knew about, with him. But in the end, it was worth it all. Graduation was WONDERFUL. If anyone has a Nuke, I strongly encourage you to attend Power School graduation. We had been told that this was the best of the 4 graduations to attend, and now having 3 of the 4 under our belts, I agree. This graduation is VERY close to PIR....it is not as formal and there are not as many Sailors graduating. I could not be prouder of my boy.
Now, he's on grad hold until he starts Prototype school. I found out last night that he will get to stay in Goose Creek for this last school, which is a HUGE prayer answered. I have been terrified of my boy from the deep South driving in the snow and such that happens in upstate NY. From what I can gather now, he'll report to the Prototype command in late Dec., after he returns from his holiday break.
Not only has my Sailor graduated from Power School since my last blog, but he's also gotten engaged. This is a young girl from home. As of now, there is no wedding date set. I'm honestly hoping that they will wait until she finishes school...she's in her 2nd year of college, and he comes back from his first underway. But, they are 19/20 years old so they must deal with the results of their actions.
Regardless of where you and your Sailor are in this journey called the Navy, I wish you the best.
