I got an e-mail from my son who is own deployment telling me that someone ran up $5000. dollars in medical expenses on his credit card. So he was stressing out trying to figure out how to deal with it. It would be simple and much faster resolution provided he could use a phone but I think he has to try and figure it out online. Has anyone else had to deal with anything like this I could use some advice to pass on to my son, but I am hoping that by the time I hear from him again he will have it all sorted out.

If you have power of attorney you should be able to help him. The credit card company will reverse it once they find out it was not an authorized charge. Takes time though.

The same thing happened to my son while he was in A school. He had to cancel his card and get another. Thankfully he is with Navy Federal and they caught it before he did but not before they depleted his account of a lot of his money. It's under investigation still, but at least it was caught before it went further. They have to be more careful about where they use thier cards (online and such).

Did he have to pay for any of the charges? My son too is with the Navy federal I just don't know if it was that card. I haven't heard from him in two days which is normal since he is on deployment. However because of this fact it is harder to get resolution I imagine because he will have to do everything via the internet (I think)
