I will also be attending graduation on September 14.  Have you booked your hotel yet?

My son will graduate Sept14th also (if there are no set backs).  I'm so proud and get wait for that time to get here. I haven't made reservations yet. Should I?  I joined this site a week or so ago and mostly just read what everyone has to say, however, I don't really know what they are talking about in regards to P-1, etc. or ordering coins, shirts and such.  I received his letter with the info that these things will be available at graduation, but is it better to order now?  Is there a difference with Div t-shirts?  What does the P stand for?

I am hoping that there are no set backs.  I did revieve a phone call from him last week saying that he was ready to come home.  I did encourage him to stay but he was really really home sick.  I was just waiting for that phone call all weekend saying they were shipping him back.  I have not heard anything more so I am guessing at this point that he decided he would stay.  I did alot of praying that he would make the right decision.  Guess I have done a whole of research either and I am not sure what the P-1 is maybe pay scale??  Where did you see that about ordering shirts and such?  I did reserve a room last night just to be sure to get a room.

WOW I haven't heard a peep from my son and I would love to know something.  My son decide to on his Navy career a little late in life so he's not home sick like someone younger would be.  He loves to travel and has spent 2 yrs in Boston at college.  We live in New Orleans and wants to be stationed in Hawaii, Italy or Japan. So I guess I'm lucky in that respect, but it's sure hard on me. He is the only child and I've been a single parent since he was 6 mos old. It would be nice for him to at least say HI I'm doing ok.  I didn't realize they would let him out once he went to boot camp. I hope it gets better for him and you. I'll remember y'all in my prayers.  I'm sure it's a lot of worry. I guess no news is good news (that's what my mom always says). I think P-1 has something to do with the weeks in boot camp. I saw the shirt stuff and the P-1 in the forum section. I think I better reserve a room asap. yikes! thanks for the reply and let's keep each other informed. I hope to see you on Sept. 14 (if that's what's right for him).

I agree it has to be a bit easier being older and already being away at school.  My son has never really been away except to go to swim camp and 4H camp which he was with people he knew and that he was coming home in a week. Hopefully we will hear something from them this weekend.  I am going to make sure I am close to the phone from 7 am- 1:00 pm on Sunday.  I have read that is holiday time where they get to write letters and make phone calls.  I did mail out a phone card this week so that he can make calls.  I guess I hadn't realized that he would need one to make calls. I sure hope your son gets to be stationed where he wants.  What will he be doing after A school and where will his A school be? I know that my son will not be stationed out of the country b/c he will be on a submarine and they are stationed in the states.  Not sure where he will be though.  You are right about the P-1 days . I will keep in touch and let you know if I hear from him this weekend.  Thanks for keeping us in your prayers I appreciate it!  Talk to ya soon.

I talked to my son 2 days ago and he was not aware of when he would get shipped out for A school.  The letter I recieved today said that it could be up to 5 days after graduation before he left for his schooling.  I only reserved my hotel Thursday and Friday so I am thinking that I need to add another day on.  Not sure when we will find out.
