OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Peyton went to MEPS (military entrance processing center) yesterday. There you take your ASFAB test, physical exam, sit with a job counselor, choose a job, take the oath, sign your job contract and find out when you leave for boot camp. Steve and I drove up to sit with the job counselor and watch the swearing in ceremony.
Peyton had already taken his ASFAB in high school so he didn't have to sit through that part. His physical went well and no problem there, but that all takes time and unfortunately by the time he was finished with all the screenings they had closed the jobs for the year. He was very disappointed. This is the end of the fiscal year for the Navy and like all the other branches of the military there are more people wanting to join than there are jobs. They will post new jobs (rates) for next year on October 1. Peyton will go back to MEPS with his recruiter then and hopefully he will have a good chance of finding what he wants at that time. He wants to go into law enforcement/security, that rate is called Master at Arms.
So for now we wait which is always hard. We would appreciate prays for Peyton, that the Navy will be all he hopes it will be, that he will find a wonderful fulfilling job and career and most of all that he will be safe and happy.

He will just have to wait for about a month, right? He can be working out in the meantime, and reading some of the info on this website would probably be really helpful.
