It's popular so book early it gets booked up fast.

We stayed at the Holiday Inn Express in Waukegan, put us 11min from the base and they'll take you to graduation...best thing ever. They are also right around from Sarge's meet and greet which is great to go to on Thursday night.

Springfield Suites and Courtyard Marriott are both in Waukegan as well.  The Courtyard I know has shuttles because we stayed there.  They also had food and full bar.  Best part was there's a restaurant next door Anastasia's that had decent food (even their deep dish pizza is great), 24 hour breakfast and it's a walk across the street to Wal-Mart which it seems like every recruit needs a wallet to put their things in since they mail it home (at least my daughters was).  It was about 8-9 minutes from the base and felt "safe". I wish I would have looked at lemon elephant "saving money PIR weekend" page.   Probably some great tips !  The Marriott wasn't the "cheapest" and the Springfield suites looked newish, so if it's cheaper I don't think it would be bad either.
