So it's been a week today that my bf left for boot camp.  I know that it's normal not to have heard anything from him but I sure am excited for when I do! I have held up good this week.  It has been very hard but knowing he is safe and doing somethign that is going to make him happy makes me happy! I knw I have another 7 weeks or so to go and it will be challenging but I'm praying they fly by! How long is it usually before you get your first letter?

I'm with you on that! It's been a week for me, too. Got his box yesterday, but no letter!  I pray for him every day, whenever I think of him, which is all the time! So, I'm hoping to get the letter today. I hope you get your letter soon! I'm lacking alot of patience at this time. I just keep praying......

I don't know, it has almost been 3 weeks and I still do not have a letter. It depends on if they have been put in a division and a ship yet, if they have the materials to write a letter and if they have had the time yet.

They keep them REALLY busy for about 3-4 wks. I don't think they really have any "spare time", so hang in there!

It's been less than a day for me and my thoughts are all over the place.  I got the "phone call" and have already started writing to my son so I'll have something to send as soon as I get his address.

From my experience.....the box after a week.  "Form" letter a few days after that.  First letter about 2/3 weeks.  Call at end of week 3.  Letters will be about once a week from then on.  Battlestations call at end of week 8.  Stay in touch through mail....write all the time....they depend on mail.  I sent something everyday.  If not a letter, just a card saying hi.  Our son graduated 3/4 and is now in A-School.  He's living his dream and nothing makes me more proud!  Keep us posted.
