Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

I'M so proud of my son Erick It's taken a lot of courage and determination to join the Navy. I have 3 brothers, 2 brother in laws and a father in law who were NAVY so I have a good idea of what his future routine will be. Im 60 and Erick is 21 any other moms going to Great Lakes on Sept 30. If you've been to graduation already. What hotel did you use? Did you rent a car or use the Shuttle? How eary did you arrive? When did you leave?

Keep the following in mind whenever you log on - it will help you navigate this site:

1. Check your personal page - click the "MY PAGE" tab on menu bar above on a regular basis.  On your personal page, on the left just underneath you profile photo, you'll the words "Blog Posts" (the number of blogs you have started), "Discussions" (the number discussions you have commented on), "Event" (the number of Events you have RSVPed for), "Groups" (the number of groups you belong to) etc. you can access your groups,  In the middle section, you'll find activities on groups you started and comments other members have left for you.

2. Check your SIGN IN/SIGN OUT box on the upper right. This a always visible on your screen to provide quick access to check your messages, friend requests and access settings (the place to go to change your USERNAME, password, profile and email settings).

3. To go to your groups, click "GROUPS" tab, then "My Groups" (in small letters on left) or access from your own page.

4. If you are getting way too many email notifications, just click "Stop Following" wherever you see it. That will start to notifications. Be careful if you use Setting/Email to control the notifications; otherwise, you won't get any and won't know if someone has sent your a friends request or if there is an important message from one of your group(s). Remember the email notifications are just that, if you get an email notification and part of a message is visible, you can't reply to that message by replying to the email notifcation. You have to log on the Navy For Moms, then click on INBOX.  A link is normally provided with you notification.

5.  For your convenience, we have other reference material in an area that is easy to. Go to New Moms Stop Here and look at the PAGES (there are 10). You'll find Boot Camp videos, link to RTC, acronyms and more.

6.  SEARCH function. This should be your best friend. You can find just anything if you use this function (for searching for members, groups, discussions or blogs).

Welcome to Navy For Moms.

we used ramada in  847-244-2400. $79.00 a night and ask for military discount.  that is also where the meet and greet will be on thursday evening...got there on Thursday and left on Saturday evening...  we drove from texas but it was well worth the vacation.  Graduation is awsome and so worth the trip expense.  ramada inn has a shuttle for graduation that they run...just ask at the front desk...we left at 6:30 and arrived in our seats - on the lower floor level around 8:15.  we also had to have a car pass that you print off, driver's liscense, car insurance & car registration.  we took our Sailor to the mall about 20 minutes from Ramada on Friday and Saturday...they also have a movie theater there.  We went to Best buy across the street for new phone and computer too...  they have a great haircut place in the mall that he used to get the perfect cut...lol  lots to do there and many places to eat...enjoy and safe travels, Cindy
