Son now at Boot Camp (left WA 4/2 and reported in IA last week to go to GreatLakes). My heart is full as I wait for his package to arrive. I think about him each time my phone rings (and more). I know he will be fine but my heart skips a beat hoping it is not a "bad" call. I worry that I have no idea when he will graduate (other than around 8 weeks). I am a little leery to purchase plane tickets without knowing when. It is a lot of money to fly 3 to Chicago. I fear purchasing for the wrong date, or what if he doesn't graduate on time......these are the things concerning me.
Forget the insurance or refundable tickets: Very costly. Choose an airline, like Southwest, that allows you to reschedule flights without penalty.
Start your research now so you can make reservations as soon as that form letter arrives.
Hello
My daaughter went to RTC on 3-21-16. I have posted a blog that describes our experience is youd like to read it. I am trying to post a good timeline with the things we are experiencing like getting "The Box". Form Letter, 1st phone call/letter.
We were given a date by her recruiter that was not the same as what was listed on the From Letter. Wait until after the 2nd week after the form letter comes to see if there are any set backs like not passing the swim test and being moved for additional training. If your child does not pass, and is moved back, they will have the recruit call home and share that the date has changes from what is on the form letter. If they pass PT and Swim then book.
I just read on one post that a recruit who started on 4/6 didn't pass swim and has been moved to a new div to do 1 week of swim training and her graduation date was affected by 2 weeks.
Mama Howdawg.
By counting 9 Fridays, PIR will most likely be 06/03/2016 for those who arrived on 04/06/2016. It could be 06/10/2016 for some if they were held over for the next TG. That is less likely this time of year than at other times, but still possible. It is possible for some who arrive on the same date to have PIR a week apart. Wait on The Form Letter to know the PIR date for sure. Arrival and What Happens at the RTC within Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones) will let you know what is happening and what to expect.
Check your My Page.
Make reservations immediately upon receiving the form letter. And let your Recruit know that you have. Show that you have absolute faith in his/her success, i.e. "Failure is not an option". Holding back shows a lack of faith on your part. Is that a message you want to send?
