Anyone ever have an issue with fraud/stolen credit card with their sailor while on deployment? Good thing we have power of attorney and we were able to cancel the card but getting new one to him is such an issue. I think there was a problem with an ATM in port and someone was able to get cash from his debit card. This credit card is connected to his ship card so now he can't access that account either! What a mess this is! He may have to go a couple of weeks without access to his money. Anyone have any experience with this situation?

This happened to my son also.....Bank account was cleaned out....USAA replaced the funds very fast...The new cards were sent overnight to our house...Fleet and Family Support on the base overnighted them to him in Guam....Check with Fleet and Family, they may have qucker way to get cards to them.

My son's checking account was wiped out too. Thankfully he didn't have too much in that account. When we contacted Navy Federal, they did cancel the card but wanted power of attorney to do anything else (replace the stolen money). We have been dealing with the ombudsman too (who are great!). He also needed to inform his command and supply them with a copy of the transactions. His next port does not have a navy federal bank or a US base so we were out of luck there. I sent a care package today and included some cash in a card I put in box (hopefully he gets it). Also was told his cash card on the ship should still work as is directly linked to checking account and cancelling card will not affect it. We will see when he needs to use it. So hopefully will receive new card from bank later this week and we will be able to get it to him shortly. so glad we got power of attorney but really sad to know theft may have been from a fellow sailor.
