My son left for boot camp on August 13 and my girls and I left for a 10 day vacation to visit their dad who is working out of state the following day. I have been hounding our house sitter for a box and letter . Literally making myself a nervous wreck that it got misplaced and I won’t get to write him , because I am not home and missed the letter . Reading through all the info has calmed my nerves . He joined as a missile tech . We are going into this pretty clueless. We both thought he would come home after boot camp to pack for A school and were surprised to find out he won’t . What happens when there is a divorced family and 2 contact addresses ? Does my son address his formal letter home or does the navy do it ?

Your recruit is the one to address the form letter, and decides where to send it. In some cases of divorce recruits have been allowed to send two form letters, but that is an exception to the rule.

Hopefully you are all on friendly/speaking terms, and can keep each other informed of letters arriving and phone calls.

Hi Jennifer - be sure to join the boot camp group - I left the link in the welcome message on your page.  You'll find answers to most of your questions there.  And once you receive the official letter (9-14 business days) you'll know his PIR date and you can join that group too.  Hang in there!

Also, it's easier when you are on your phone if you make sure it's in "desktop view ".  I think that's what it's called lol.
