Hi, my high school senior recently enlisted and as much as I knew it was going to happen and was so proud, when it came down to the day, I was so upset. To get through the day, all I keep thinking was he has the world at his feet to make his dreams come true and it's not about me. After dropping him off, I was upset..hoping he would make the right decision for him. I tried to educate myself as much as possible prior to, but nothing prepared me for how I was feeling...happy & nervous for him, and sad for me. After leaving him for his testing, I came home and again was trying to find anything to help me...I found this site. After reading thoughts of you all to others, I felt calm and knew we would all get through with whatever he chose if it would make him happy...and I'm glad to say he is very happy with his decision to enlist! Thank you again for all of the help that you all provided even when you didn't know it. This site has many great resources and has answered many questions that I have. And most importantly, thank you to all of your children for keeping us safe and for you all for raising selfless children!

Congrats to your son. It's hard to let them go. I am finding out myself it is harder than I thought it would be. This is a good site. My son's recruiter told me about it and it has helped me. my son shipped on 10/6 to boot camp and we just got his box of civilian clothes today.  I cried again as I pulled everything out. Each day, it gets better and the tears aren't as close to the surface; and funny thing is they are teas of joy for him and sadness for me. No longer the little boy/ young man, he's all grown up or will be by the time boot camp is done.

Together, this community of Moms can help each other through this. Stay strong for him and yourself.

Thank you! I keep joking to him...it's not about me! I agree, so happy for him and going to miss my baby boy. Congrats to you all...such brave young men and women...his site has been a lifesaver...for support and the wealth of information. Good luck to your son, you will see home before you know it. Many blessings!
