OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Hi Navy family,
Thank you so much for your support and warm welcome ! It really is appreciated more than I can express in words . Just wondering: when I will stop crying?!?
I am still figuring out a different email and a user name. This may be a dumb question so please bear with me - will I lose my original Gmail account?

Hi Liz!  Hang in there mama - you'll get through this!  Be sure to hop on over to the boot camp group and post there. I posted the link on your page.

People don't tend to see these individual posts as much.

And no, you won't lose your original Gmail account.  That is your email and it is how you will get notifications on here. You don't need to change your email account - and if you change your user name that won't affect your email account.

Liz - definitely come join us in the BC Mom group - Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones) - Navy For Moms (ning.com)  There are several members who are right there with you, missing their SRs. One mom already posted this morning.

Also, that group page has a wealth of information on it. When you go to the group, click the join button in the upper right corner. Then scroll down past the information (you can go back and read it later), scroll past the discussions - I don't recommend posting a hello there, as those are not always noticed by the members, then go to the Comment Wall. That is where you want to post your hello. Post any questions that you have or just read comments and encouragement that is posted daily, sometimes the weekends are quiet, but if you post, someone will get back to you as soon as they are able.

We all volunteer our time on this site, but we do our best to reply as soon as we are able. I use my computer and it is a lot easier to navigate this site and post replies than on a mobile device in my opinion.
