I received my "Box" today. I kind of thought today would be the day I just pointed to it and asked my youngest to take it to Jordan's room. Then I couldn't swallow, catch my breath and started to cry. This last for about 3 or 4 minutes then it came to me. Thank God my Box was cardboard and not wood! At that moment I saw this as my son's future and not the end to his childhood. My heart goes out to all the loved ones of our military men and women who have had to receive the wooden box. May God watch and protect my son so that day will never come for me. Thank you to all who have laid down their lives so that I may be free and live in these great United States of America.

@Tampamom...I know it's hard receiving "the box". It was for me too. I still have that box and all its contents in my daughters room, sitting in her chair. I can't bring myself to get rid of it, nor do I intend to! I plan to keep at least a part of it, in some way, for her scrapbook we started when she left for BC in March. PIR is just a couplw weeks away for me...I thought it would never get here...LOL. Time will make things better, I promise. Stay in touch on this site...it will help like nothing else! Seeing other moms, wives, girlfriends, going through the same thing will become your strength. If you haven't already done so, join group "Boot Camp Mom's" and when you get the form letter, be sure to join your SR's PIR group. Before you know it, you will be going to your sons PIR!!!
