Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

The gift of one's voice!
What a precious gift the sound of a voice can be. The sound of their breathing when they slept as a baby, their first words, their voice when we thought they were lost in a crowd, the "I'm home!" when you have waited up for them to come home, "I love you" ANYTIME! And the call home from bootcamp, especially on Mothers Day. You can keep the brunch, flowers, candy - the phone call is tops! (not that we don't love the other things too :))
Old recordings of our loved ones can trigger such memories, it's amazing how despite not hearing them for years, the sound of their voice brings back so much emotion. Plug in that video and close your eyes and just listen to them speak.
As Mothers we can hear so much in the voice of our child. We sense if he/she is ok or if something is on their mind, the words are almost secondary to the message that their voice brings to our ears.
At this time we are restrained from hearing their voice very often and we must place our words on the page, with no inflection or emotion. What a challenge it is to convey all we hope and feel into the one dimensional words that sit on a piece of paper. I don't take communication for granted anymore. We have lived in a world of instant communication gratification so now we learn how to wait.
I understand so many have had phone calls, what a gift. Happy Mothers Day..and I just realized on 06/19/2015, it will be Fathers Day Weekend. It just figures they get theirs "in person", oh well :)
