It was great to see his terrific block printing! He filled in the form letter blanks so well :) I looked all around for a little "hi mom" or something, but nope. Nothing.

He's a man of few words and apparently that hasn't changed. The letter is FILLED with information, though, so it's great to have.

Today I looked through the PowerPoint about Battle Stations. Wow, what a fantastic training facility. They are preparing sailors well!

I got my letter this morning. Words cannot describe how excited I was. My daughter is in Ship 02 Div 937. No extra hi moms in mine either. I was a bit shocked with the writing. Unless they have already retrained her writing skills, I am not convinced that she actually filled in the blanks or addressed the envelope. Non of the block letters looked like her handwriting, and the letters slanted to the left as if written by a left-handed person. My daughter is right-handed. Doesn't really matter though. I was just glad to get her address. Good luck to you and your Sailor!!

Dgnnp, that's funny! My sons penmanship often leaves something to be desired, but those block letters were perfect. They are clearly learning something :)

Jessica, I can't WAIT to post a "I have a Sailor!" message.

Got my letter today, too.  I agree--His penmanship seems to have improved...hehe. I didn't have to get out a magnifying glass to read it.  Can't wait to get real letters and hear how he is doing..he sounded so stresssed when he called before he got into Chicago....  He is on Ship 13, Div 229.

Surprised when I called the Residence Inn and they are already sold out.

Don't you just wonder what they thought as they started gathering with all those strangers? Taken to a place where they were being yelled at, required to mail their clothes home.....and more, all as they are getting more and more tired. I'm sure it was a shock.

My son was SO ready to go. He had been waiting since October and had been pondering joining for at least two years. I am excited to see the new man he is becoming!

I have no doubt our new sailors will make us so proud!

Try the Navy Lodge. Great rates and near RTC. That's where I'm
staying.

Looking forward to do many things! A letter. A phone call. Seeing him :)
