Yesterday, the 4th of July, I went to the grocery store to pick up some much needed items - I haven't gone REALLY grocery shopping since Dylan left... hence I had a pretty full basket... All the while, my cell phone was never out of sight - I just knew they would let him call for the Fourth... ha ha

Anyway, I was almost done with the necessities and on to the meal planning when it hit me.... I was shopping for 3 instead of 4.... that (with God's grace) is how it will be from now on, until holidays, vacations, etc. I realize I'm in the baby steps of the next 8 (and knowing Dylan, probably more) years of this whole adventure - This can't be anything compared to deployments! It still hurts.... He's my buddy, always has been - the next time I see him, he will be a grown man - It make me sad and proud at the same time. I know this is his path, his journey - I still just have to get used to it - lol

I want to thank the the ones who started this website - I wished I had known about it before he left for Boot Camp - so much more I should have done differently!! Thanks to everyone for their wise bits of info (like ordering pics and the PIR cd) and to those sailors who have gone throught BC and can help me from giving Dylan more pushups - ie: no odd colored envelopes (pink, green...) , no more that 4 letters a day... etc.

This is my first blog - I hope I don't screw it up!!

Meanwhile, the phone won't be out of sight again today, tomorrow.... the waiting continues.....

I sat by my phone all day yesterday also, ha ha no call. I went to the grocery store after Austin left, bought oreos. no one eats them here except Austin, he was the only child at home for about last 6 years. I realizeed I did alot of my shopping just for him, no more pop tarts, frozen pizzas, ect... I also noticed my Mt Dew last a long time now. he he

A big "thank You"for all the comments!! I've been a bit down the past couple of days and I have not checked my page. (All 3 of my kiddos birthdays are less than 3 weeks apart and it's this time of year... kinda weird not having 2 of them around...) I am definately realizing the motto of "hurry up and wait"... but, our lives at home have to go forward. Dylan would not want it any other way. With the help of you guys that have already gone through this and those in the same "boat" as I am, it will help. I know it's not the end of the world - it's just the beginning!! And I know it will be an exciting (and sometimes boring) adventure for all of our children!! Thanks again and may God continue to bless ALL of our Armed Forces!!
