OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Events

**UPDATE - 2020**

Due to COVID there is no public PIR. The graduations are on Thursday, and the video of the graduation is posted on RTC's FaceBook on Friday at approx 3pm. Please keep in mind that a division may need to complete additional quarantine during training which will delay their graduation.

Please note! Changes to this guide happened in October 2017. Tickets are now issued for all guests, and all guests must have a ticket to enter base. A separate parking pass is no longer needed to drive on to base for parking.

Please see changes to attending PIR in the PAGES column. The PAGES are located under the member icons on the right side.

My youngest son enlisted into the Navy, and he left an hour ago to begin boot camp in a different state he's never been too. This is his first time leaving home and flying on a plane, I've been crying on and off I miss him already, and I'm doing my best getting used to him not being here. Any kind of support, kind words and virtual hugs would be awesome.

Hi there - you've definitely come to the right place!  I left the link to the boot camp group in the welcome message on your page.  Be sure to join and post there.  You'll find all sorts of valuable info on that page - especially new info regarding how things are being done with quarantine, etc.  Keep your phone handy - you should get the "I'm here" call sometime tonight.  It's about 30 seconds and you won't have time to talk.  Be patient and remember, no news is good news

Hang in there!

NavyMom01 - Please do come join BC Mom group, if you have not already. We have a lot of information there and we do a lot more "conversing" in the comments section (scroll all the way to the lower portion of that page) and more people will likely see your post and able to send you encouraging words.

As B'sNukeMom said - keep your phone close to you - my call came late at night.

Here is a blog to read from one of our "veteran moms" - First Things First-- The Quarantine Edition

BigNavyMom Hugs to you!! My son has been in three years now and I still remember that phone call. It sounded like a recording and I just kept saying, "I love you"

You've got this! He is going to be just fine. You obviously raised a young man that has a heart to serve and has courage to attempt something new & out of his comfort zone. I wrote your exact words a couple of years ago. You are in the right place for sure. This website was a huge support to me. YOU ARE NOT ALONE! Our momma hearts get yanked really hard the first week they are at bootcamp, and slowly you'll get stronger. You will start getting letters soon. I suggest getting the sandbox app once you get your sons ship address. They get letters from you much faster. (it costs a bit) It's a little better than snail mail. Hang in there! Staying busy helped ease the worry.... Avoid negative comments & stories about bootcamp. By the way, my son always commented on how good the food was at bootcamp. They feed them very well! He will not go hungry! :)

Thank you for the wonderful support, everyday I'm getting stronger and I still miss him, waiting to receive his first letter once he's done with quarantine. I know he will do just fine during Boot Camp.
