Hello everyone,
Well in just 2 short hours I will be deliverying my only child to the Navy! So bitter sweet. Don't miss understand me, I am one proud Momma! My son has grown and is on his way. I had time to prepare for this moment but seems that has all gone out the window. I feel so many emotions. I don't want to be a mess when I drop him off. I will go to the airport in the morning to see him get onto the plane. Hope he looks back. I am grateful for this site. Reading other blogs helps me feel that I am not alone. The next few days are going to be odd. Geez I feel so selfish.
So it's off to purchase phone card minutes, going to get thousands, and stamps, yes thousands of those too. I'm going to start writting tonight, going to write thousands. I'm going to hang tough, chin up, proud with the ocassional melt down.
Thanks for being there!
Anthony's Mom
When you go to the airport make sure you ask the ticket agent for an escort pass, this way you can be with him until he boards his plane. One mom told me this prior to me going and she told me that the airline her son was going on does permit this but was not to sure about all, when I did asked the agent she did explain that they usually don't allow but I think she could see the emotion in my eyes and she was kind enough to issue us a pass. ( I think she could see if she didn't let me go I was ready to have a terrible breakdown at her counter, which I would of)LOL So do ask. Don't forget to tell your son to eat something good at the airport when he gets to Chicago. (phone card ) We also spent the day with him at MEPS , what a proud moment when they do the final swearing in. Take lots of pictures. Hang in there.
My son leaves for boot camp on April 18th. He was sworn in a few months ago but was also sworn in again on the field of the Army Navy game this past Saturday. He is very modest and doesn't like any attention and didn't tell us this was happening for fear we would have the entire family there cheering him on. I'm so upset that he didn't allow us to share in that moment, he said...."It's nothing Mom" ... I'm on a mission to see if anyone has any photos of that day that they could share with me. Thanking you in advance.
