My daughter left on Wednesday going to boot camp in Chicago, I rece my 30 second call. I read online they only get to call home 3 times and that was one of them. Can anyone give me more incite on this. I'm struggling with no communication on a daily basis. We have always talked daily in some form. I don't have a clue what she is doing and I can't get it off my mind. I am so worried, she said she would be sending her clothes back. How many days that usually take. Any answers or advice is much appreciated.
Thanks!

Ashley's Mom,

First, your daughter is in a safe place. She is being well cared for by people who want her to succeed. Don't worry on that score.

Second, you have a lot of catching up to do. My suggestion is that you head over to the Boot Camp Moms group.

Click on this link: http://navyformoms.com/group/bootcampmoms

Read the entire introduction. And look on the right for a column labeled "Pages(20)". Lots more links to tons of information. If you read all that you'll have a good idea whats going on. You'll also have lots of questions, but at least they will be informed questions that you can post to the Comment Wall. You will find moms like yourself and experienced moms that are willing to help. Everything will start to make sense and you will find that you are not alone.

Hang in there. Boot Camp is only 8 weeks. We all survive the experience. Good luck.

My girl has only been gone 3 weeks this Wed.  I , like you had daily conversations. At first it seemed as if she was just off with friends on vacation and now it's getting a little quiet around here, but today I received a call.  Her joy to talk with us was equally as exciting as ours was to hear her voice.  She is Good.  If your daughter chose to take this path,  she is tough enough to know she can suceed.  I have had a real peace in our time away and today confirmed that although she is missing us greatly, she is well and thriving.  You will treasure each little contact from her belongings to the formal letter, to that sweet call. Prayers for you and yours.

There is no set number of calls during BC. See Arrival and What Happens at the RTC and Phone Cards and Phone Calls.

She will be taken care of. It won't be easy but she will get a lot of support. My husband (retired Navy) and our 3 sons (Navy, Marines and Army), have taught be a lot about small group units and how they learn to watch out for each other. I agree with others who have said she is in a safe place.
