For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Waiting for My Son Letter
My Son left for Boot Camp on 8/07, I received the box, but I haven't received a letter or a phone call from him, how long do I have to wait for His letter or phone call?

My son left 8/6 and I received first letter from him yesterday 8/22. No phone calls.

Veronica,Hang in there. My son left 8/2. I received my 1st letter from him on 8/16. Be on the look out for one this week. From what my son stated they can only send mail on sunday. Have you received the letter with the graduation date on it yet?
Hope you get a letter today! Just as I hope I do from my son!

Hi Veronica,
If you didn't get the 15 second I'm here call, don't worry! I have read many posts where people didn't get their call. I have also read that some people got a call at 2 in the morning.... I would have slept throu that one, I think! Try to remember that "no news is good news!" It means there on target and things moving in the right direction. Sometimes an early call means there might be a problem. Could be a security question, an injury or (less likely) a discharge. So keep sending positive thoughts toward Chicago! ;)

Hi everyone,
My name is Nancy and I am new to this website-my son left for bootcamp 8/9/12. I thought I'd be ok with our son leaving for bootcamp because we've been through this before when our older son joined the military (different branch). Boy was I wrong, I miss my son so much!! My daughter-in-law received his box but we haven't heard/received the form letter yet. This is so frustrating because we're guessing his PIR is 10/5/12, his recruiter said it will be 10/5/12 but without the letter we can't be certain that this information is correct, especially since the address information the recruiter provided gives the Ship # but doesn't appear to give the Division. I guess I'm just wondering if it took this long for anyone else to receive the form letter?

Our son left 8/6/12 and we finally received our 1st real letter on Wed. 8/22. His girlfriend called earlier in the day to say she got a letter which made me very happy but sure was glad we got one too. His recruiter told him his PIR would be 10/5 but when we got his form letter it is actually going to be 9/28. Yay! He said the food was awesome which made me smile since. I thought I was prepared having taking 3 other sons to college but our last hug and goodbye made my heart break. No worries though as it quickly filled with pride. I'm still trying to figure out how to connect with others who have the same PiR or Division.
