Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Please note! Changes to this guide happened in October 2017. Tickets are now issued for all guests, and all guests must have a ticket to enter base. A separate parking pass is no longer needed to drive on to base for parking.

Week 7

WOW!!!!!

It has been 7 weeks since I got the I'm here call at 2:31 in the morning.

I never dreamed that the time would go by this fast.

My SR has experienced things and completed tasks that he would never have gotten he would get to do had he not joined the Navy. My SR now knows what he will be doing/going to school to do for the next several years. He is very excited about that. I have gotten 2 other phone calls other than the I'm here call and I enjoyed every second of them. The looks on my husband's and little girl's faces as they talked to him during one of the phone calls was priceless.

PIR is only a few days away. During that time, my SR still has some very important tasks to complete including his final PFA, academic tests, inspections, and last but not least Battlestations. My husband, daughter, and I are very excited about getting the I'm a Sailor call and then making the trip to Great Lakes, IL to see PIR and our, then, Sailor.

The Gate Pass has been printed, the car reserved, the driving directions printed, the hotel room reserved, the outfit picked out, and the packing will begin soon.

For those that are reading this and your SR has just left, I promise you, you will be here before you know it and the Navy will not only have made a stronger person out of your SR, but it will have made you a Navy Strong Mom.

I am an unbelievably proud parent of not one but two young ladies that had the courage to follow in their grandfathers footsteps!

To all the mom's out there who have just started on their journey Hang in there it really did get better!
